This is why India will never make Big in Football ,Well this may be a harsh title but that’s how reality sounds. In this post lets take a look what is the hard-hitting reality. We will look at whats going wrong with the sport in our country which not only the sports person and fanatics should be aware of but also each and every citizen must be aware of.
Being in the family of Group sports football is all about kicking the ball in foot and scoring a goal. In 1888, The Football League was founded in England, becoming the first of many professional football competitions. During the twentieth century, several of the various kinds of football grew to become some of the most popular team sports in the world.
History of Indian Football:
The history of Indian football is a long and detailed one, as it was the national sport at one time. The impetus for this was to unify the Indian Army. There is evidence for refereed team football games being played in the Indian Army since at least 1949. India is home to some of the oldest football clubs in the world and the third world’s oldest competition, the Durand Cup.In the earlier Indian team there were also some Muslims which are now Pakistanis.
Calcutta FC was the first club to be established in 1872. Other early clubs include Dalhousie Club, Traders Club and Naval Volunteers Club.
In 1889 India’s oldest current team Mohun Bagan A.C. was founded as Mohun Bagan Sporting Club.
Tournaments like the Gladstone Cup, Trades Cup and Coocbehar Cup also started around this time.
1950 FIFA World Cup:
India qualified by default for the 1950 FIFA World Cup finals as a result of the withdrawal of all of their scheduled opponents. FIFA imposed a rule banning barefoot play following 1948 Olympics where India had played barefoot, the suggestion that the Indian team refused to play because they were not allowed to play barefoot is not entirely true; according to the then-Indian captain Sailen Manna, it was invented to cover up. The team had not made it past the first round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers until 2018, when they defeated Nepal 2–0 over the course of two home-and-away games.
The above mentioned are just a drop in an ocean, India loved this sport a lot, but now rarely followed.
Indian football and fans , At Present:
Indian Football taken a Rebirth for sure but reality is not many know that I-league is India’s Major league and ISL – Indian Super League is just a tournament . Well ISL brought the fame back to the game. Local players were exposed to play with foreign players and improve their standard . ISL has more sponsors and fan following and player wages compared to I-League. The fact is by promoting ISL we have let down our major league. The crowd turning up for a ISL game is Huge compared to an I-League game. May be, the fans have no interest in seeing indian players game. The fact is the development of I-League is the real development of Indian Football.
Football Down Southern India:
Well If you read any article about history of India it majorly deals with northern and central india, the efforts and participation of southern india are not highlighted. Same here in Football too. You cannot see lot of international matches played in south india, though they have large stadiums and football fans. Even you cannot see lot of southern players representing the national team. lets look whats going wrong down south.
This is why India will never make Big in Football:
A team has to qualify lot of tiers to represent itself in the national level . I guess this is where the teams and players are going missing. we should agree there is a politics present in the sports sector too. The problem is no proper administration at the the ground level. People without proper knowledge have given major posts. People visit stadiums only to watch a game at higher level with no crowd and media attention the ground level football became a victim of those unQualified people.
The quality teams and players are filtered by these people as they can’t give what they demand. Biased decision in the game, improper match facilities and poor management are lethal weapons used by the UnQualified people. These people are to be blammed for India’s under-development in sports.
Without removing these people from the management it is really difficult to make India big in Football. Not Many would know that there a lot of cases pending in the courts over the football commitees on these charges.
This is why India will never make Big in Football.
Well, A Strong Building needs a Perfect Basement.
Hence to bring quality players and keeping in mind about the future of the beautiful game the AIFF should fix this sooner. Its now or never.
Well I’m eagerly waiting to see INDIA at the Bigger stage.
